Community cooks and food lovers are gearing up for United Way of Pitt County's 2nd Annual SOUPER Bowl this Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.
The public is invited to try out soup and chili recipes. Take-out lunch tickets are available in advance or at the door on the day of the event, which will be held from noon to 2 p.m., during which time your meal can be picked up. Tickets are $7 and include soup, a drink and a sandwich.
Animal organizations and Subaru teaming up to find 'forever homes' for animals

The Pitt County Animal Shelter will join the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Subaru of America for its annual year-end “Share the Love” campaign and celebration on Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Share the Love Holiday Adoption Event will be located at Greenville Subaru, 3999 S. Memorial Drive, Greenville, N.C.

Rebekah Britt is a native of Greenville. As a child, she attended Pitt County Schools, and graduated from Farmville Central High School. With a passion for cutting hair, she became a cosmetologist shortly after high school. Being drawn to education and having a desire to help children learn and succeed, led her to go back to school and change careers.
