Smoothies contain fruit and are thought of as health drinks, but they're not always low in calories. Here are some smoothie recipes for losing weight as well as staying healthy.

Smoothies contain fruit and are thought of as health drinks, but they're not always low in calories.

Here is a recipe for a great smoothie for those who are watching their weight but also for those who want to lose weight. For this smoothie, combine 8 strawberries, a half of a banana, 30g of protein powder and 5 ounces of apple juice in a blender with crushed ice. This is very rich in vitamins as well as whey protein (important in burning of calories). It will help you with muscle retention and will likely make you feel fuller for a longer period of time.

If you want to have a smoothie for breakfast, try this very filling breakfast smoothie, which has more protein than your regular cereal: In the blender combine 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds, 1 tablespoon of oats, strawberries, 1 banana, 6 ounces skim milk. The oats and berries provide antioxidants while the pumpkin seeds add zinc, iron and omega3 fatty acids.

For those who want to build muscles and strength, try this power smoothie: Put 4 ice cubes, 20 g whey protein, 10 ounces of skimmed milk, 50g of blueberries, 50g of raspberries and 1 banana. The berries provide vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants for the body.
