The question most asked of me regarding wedding photography is “how much are your packages?”  In this tight economy it is a valid question.

Photographers located east of 95 tend to charge a little less than those west of 95.   The average for packages in Eastern NC ranges from 1895. to 7000.

What is included and quality can be tremendous from photographer to photographer.    If photography is important to you the money you might spend to get someone that you think is out of your league could be the best choice ever made in the long run.  Lower prices don’t always produce the best results, and in the case of professional photography, you get what you pay for.

The important thing is honesty upfront so you do not get hit with a lot of additional expense on the back end.  Does the package you are thinking about include adequate time, engagement photographs, a bridal portrait, and what style of album?  Also, how much input do you get?  Do you get to select photographs for your album? Are you allowed to make substitutions?

Your photographs are your memories, so take your time choosing a photographer.  Look at their website, talk with them, and meet with them in person.  You have to make sure that you not only love their work, but that you can see yourself with them, that you trust them.

You must remember that you are not just renting wedding cameras and equipment; you are hiring a talented artist that will be creating and capturing moments that you will treasure forever!

Another question I am often asked is “how do I know that I will get what I think I am paying for?”  Communication is the key.  Have an honest discussion with any potential photographer about your mutual expectations of each other.  To do this you must have a photographer that is willing to establish a relationship with you.   You should discuss everything from style of photography to what looks best.  As a photographer we have seen it all and are happy to discus everything from our style to dress style, colors, or sparklers vs. bubbles.
